Let us remember that in 1980 (23 of September), the Air Force of Iran launched the "Operation Kaman 99", coordinated military operation in the middle of enemy attacks, which included more than 200 aircraft, refueling, intelligence processing during the same operation, etc. The operation included 40 F-4 Phantoms, 58 F-5E Tiger II, 50 F-5Es and 60 F-14 Tomcats for air defence.
The results were successful, all bases near Iran Iraq finished with important damages, and out of service for months, Iraq's air efficiency was reduced to 55%, giving time to Iran, for regroup and prepare your forces for dealing with conflict, weakened the Iraqi initiative, derived in a stalemate the front, that despite some progress on both sides, finished without more significant change, until the ceasefire in August 1988.
That gives us a reasonable basis to raise some speculations on Iran's military response to an attack by Israel.

4. Within hours, 90 aircraft are deployed to carry out the counterattack, with five 707 aircraft for aerial refueling.
5. They use a route across Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.
6. As a distraction and for follow the script, Iran launches missile attacks on southern Israel, with the apparent aim of Dimona, Israel's nuclear center.
7. They start low intensity attacks by Hezbollah, but especially of Hamas from Gaza, to focus the attention of the authorities and public opinion in southern Israel.
8. Iranian Planes come from Syria and Lebanon, and attack targets in northern Israel, Haifa is the main objective.
9. The attack was preceded by an intensification of operations by Hezbollah, including the launch of longer-range missiles and UAVs and confuse and saturate the defenses of Israel. Israeli defenses are activated at the end, especially in pursuit of the attackers.
10. A major wave of Iranian aircrafts crossed the Mediterranean from Syria, after a long detour, TelAviv is attacked, some of the planes did suicide operations on critical facilities.
11. In the confusion, at least 50% of Iranian planes returned to their bases.
12. Israeli casualties, both in the attack on Iran, in its reply, number in the hundreds, the damage costs millions, but the loss of security, by the sudden action of the enemy is critical.
Underestimating the enemy is always stupid, if in this case it can also be deadly.
